Crew cab with a 4.8.
#1
Next year I will be looking at purchasing a new truck (new to me but slightly used). I'm looking for a full size Chevrolet crew cab made after 04. I'm not really looking for a performance truck just something with size and has enough power to get from point A to point B. I know the 4.8 engine works well in regular cab trucks but how does it put up with the added weight of the crew cab?

You don't want the 4.8 in a CC. I have one in an x-cab 4x4 and it "had" to have some forced induction to make it livable
It won't get any better gas mileage then the 5.3 and it WILL have a lot LESS torque and feel a ton weaker. And it will have less resale value when you trade it off down the road. Trust me, I speak from experience here

If your not looking for something with performance in mind then i'd say the 4.8 is a great motor, you could make up for the smaller size a bit by putting some 4.10's in the rear and getting rid of some torque management.
