Default Clunk fixed

The dealership replaced the steering shaft in about 45 minutes. It feels like new.

Just for the heck of it I asked what was the latest he'd heard about piston slap. He said nothing except that if it happens,it's normal.

i think that it can be replaced even if the warranty is out because it was a national recall

I've heard something about they're replacing them up to 60k but would someone verify this for me. Even though I've only had the clunk a couple of times (while turning and hitting potholes) do you think the dealership would replace it for me.. I'm almost at 60k.

Mine was doing it all the time. Maybe your's doesn't have the shaft problem but made noise from bottoming-out or hitting a limit.
I'd say have them check it out before the 60k.
