Chevy Vortec Max
#1
I came across a 2006 Chevy V-Max LT3 6.0L on craigslist not far from where I live. It's a crew cab, just over 145K miles, leather interior, new trailer brake system, says it got a fartmaster dual exhaust, has been tuned, and new 20" XD wheels, and Falken tires. Anyways, they are asking $14,500 for the truck as is. My question is...other that deciphering the vin, is there any other way of knowing if its a true v-max, or a fake? It has the v-max logo on the lower part of the driver/passenger door. If it is a true V-Max, is this a good deal or is it priced way to high considering the year and miles? I have a 2004 Z71 with 90K original, but then again it only gets driven about 5 days every two weeks due to my job.

I believe it should have the 14 bolt rear end with 6 lugs if it is 2wd. Is there any way that you could get a pic of the sticker in the glove box that lists the options?
Maybe 1fastbrick will chime in, he really knows his stuff when it comes to the limited production stuff.

Jesus.... way too high. Its a 6000 dollar truck at that mileage. I have two local to me... one needs some front end work with 75000 miles asking 13450 (too high been for sale for 10 months now) and another with 70000 miles that's loaded with leather but an extended cab asking 16500. The extended cab has a bunch of aftermarket stuff too and has been up for over a year. Both real 06 vmax 4x4s.
Easy visual is a drum brake equipped 6 lug 9.5" 14 bolt. Really though the vin is the real way to go and www.compnine.com is free and all for one search.....
The 8th digit in the vin should be "N" as that is for an lq9. Heads will be 317s and block obviously will have 6.0 l stamped on it.
In the glovebox lookfor axn, lq9, m70 and then either gt4 or gt5. If it has those its a legit max as a 4x4.
I have said it before... vmaxs are worthless to most buyers as nobody hardly wants a 6 liter powered half ton. Sure enthusiasts do... but mom and pop brown probably won't unless they are looking to tow a holiday trailer. They aren't worth more than a 5.3 truck real world.... probably less.

I had the guy send me some photos. It is a 14 bolt rear, and does appear to be an actual V-Max. He is the 3rd owner, and only selling because he got an F-250 for towing. So, I ask again....given all this info is the truck reasonably priced?
