Default Center console swap

**Thread resurrection**

I’m about to do this swap myself in my 2000 Sierra rcsb and I have the console and panels as well as the dash bezel. My parts are out of an 04 Avalanche.
If I use the bracket do I not need the 04 dash bezel?
Id prefer not to have a gap, plus to my understanding 03-06 hvac controls won’t work on my truck, but 99-02 hvac controls don’t fit the newer bezels

You need the console itself, the 15118821 bracket posted above, the glove box surrounding molding and the bezel that goes under the steering column. Those two last pieces are shorter than the non console pieces and fit up next to the console. You can cut to fit the non console glove box surround and knee bolster (bezel) on the drivers side but it may or may not fit well.

To get a tight fit to the bottom of the dash... pull the console up until it bottoms on the dash then tighten the two slotted 10mm bolts on the 15118821 bracket.

There are several ways to do the double din bezel on the 99-02. Yeah you're right about the HVAC controls, and it depends on if you want it perfect or good enough. You can just cut the bar on the 99-02, and always try to "work it" so it looks good. If you use the 03-07 bezel it cuts off the words on the HVAC controls (which NO, you can't swap unless you want to swap the entire AC system). Nobody would probably ever notice, but if you think you will:

Here is the only thing that will make it look factory correct: An aftermarket double din bezel for the 99-02. Scosche is the first one (and the one that comes color matched), Metra the second.
Amazon.com: Scosche GM5602DDGRB 1999 to 2002 Select Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Avalanche, Tahoe & GMC Sierra, Yukon/XL Double DIN Full Dash Panel - Gray: Electronics Amazon.com: Scosche GM5602DDGRB 1999 to 2002 Select Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Avalanche, Tahoe & GMC Sierra, Yukon/XL Double DIN Full Dash Panel - Gray: Electronics

Amazon.com: Metra DP-3002B Double DIN Dash Kit for 1999 - 2002 GM Full-Size Trucks/SUV's (Matte Black): Car Electronics Amazon.com: Metra DP-3002B Double DIN Dash Kit for 1999 - 2002 GM Full-Size Trucks/SUV's (Matte Black): Car Electronics

A third one thats cheaper.
Amazon.com: Ai GMK346TB Double DIN Dash Kit for 1999-2002 GM Trucks/SUV's OEM Textured, Full Size, Black Amazon.com: Ai GMK346TB Double DIN Dash Kit for 1999-2002 GM Trucks/SUV's OEM Textured, Full Size, Black

There might be more options, but that should be enough. If you have time, I want to say one of those first two has occasional fitment issues, and the other brand is newer. If it was me, since its off Amazon, its an easy return.

If it was a non console vehicle... pretty much.
You can always try the cut method on the 04 bezel.
Mark a upper & lower spot, pull a masking tape line and have at it... you may get lucky.

It was a console vehicle
I have everything from the same truck - console, glove box panel, steering column panel, bezel and radio bucket - all out of an 04 Avalanche
I’ll be going back to get the mounting bracket later this week
