CST ... you know if SBC is hiring around East TX or San Antonio area (2 diffrerent areas).

I'm tired of cleaning carpets. The pay wouldn't be that bad if I could get more than 20-30 hours a week, but ... I can't.

I am in OKC and theirs not a damn thing here becasue I am suppose to be taking a different job in 2 months but nothing is open. I would check into it. also be a manager don't mess with a union job.

The thing about managemnt postitions is you have to have more experience and education than I have. I've also heard that you almost have to know someone on the inside to get on there too. I am SOOOOOO ready to get the hell up out of this place, I would like it even better if my girlfriend and I could move down to San Antonio. I think once I get a decent job I think I'm gonna make a move to make her mine for good.

ok, I am 22 have no degree and they hired me for inside sales/account manager. It helps to know someone but you can do it. If you have technical exp. esp. with a cpu you shouldn't have a problem. their will be alot of jobs open after this strike I gaurantee. Alot of managers are quiting. Good luck and I make damn good money for what i do.

CST .. I may try that next time I'm in SA. I will just go by there and try and turn in a resume ... will they let you do that?

I've always been a hot-rodder - the shafting got started when the auto-tech class at my trade school was full when I applied for it. My second choice was electronics.

I've got 9 years in my current company. I do Unix support, specializing in Solaris, (and I surf the web here constantly). Since the whole economy got tight and all of us got turned into little corporate chess pieces, I've got bumped around to doing remote lab support covering three buildings an hour from my house. Now they want me to travel into downtown Boston a few days a week. HAH. What junk vehicle are they going to give me to drive in with?

The pay is awesome... But dealing with corporate BS and the bean counters is drying me right up.
Back on topic .. it sounds like you have gotten a little burnt out on your job. I went through this too so it also affected my performance at work. There were some other contributing factors as well. There was a management change and that's when things began to go to hell in a handbasket. I got **** on a time or two and felt like I was always getting left with the taskls no one else wanted, those being some of the main contributing factors. The NEW manager also felt I wasn't happy with my job before he was a manager and I had said some things to him at that time as well. Turns out, he lets me go 3 weeks before my 2 years is up, which is what I made a point of wanting to make before I left there. Ironic or coincident ... I will never know for sure, but I do know it happened.

I learned some VERY important lessons from this. NEVER EVER EVER bitch about your job to a future manager or what could be your future manger. Even though you may not like your job, don't take it for granted, you can ALWAYS be replaced. And .. most of all, never take your job for granted.
