Can't find a shop willing to install a Yank.

None of the tranny shops around here want to touch my truck.
The conversations usually go like,
"Hi, I'm looking to have a torque converter installed in my truck..."
"Okay, what year?"
"04."
.........long pause.
"Why? Isn't it under waranty?"
"It's an aftermarket 2600 stall."
The person turns stale and the conversation goes into things about computers and factory stall speeds and waranty work. Nobody wants to hear about the software I have to edit out any possible issues, or the countless other people out here in the LS1 world running these.
(anybody got some cheese?)

Just tell them you'll give them $250?? to swap the converter, and if it doesn't work they'll make another $250. to swap it back. Don't worry, you bought a good converter. The whole damn job doesn't take 2 hrs.

Are you just trying tranny shops or are you calling performance shops??
Most tranny and brake shops only do factory crap in my experience. If you want to have something done performance wise you have to call a performance shop.

Yeah, I've been calling regular old tranny shops. There aren't any performance shops VERY local to me, like these other shops are.
Tom's about 2 hours down the highway... I was already in touch with him - he doesn't have a waiting area handy, I won't be able to get a ride out of his place, MA laws dictate that I can't get my hands dirty in his shop, and I don't know of anything to do within walking distance of his place.
Other than Tom, Dez Racing is about 1:45 up the highway. I haven't got in touch with them yet...

Any reason you're not doing it yourself? It's not that hard if you can turn a wrench.
Talk to the guys at the tranny shop and find one you like, tell him what you want ot do, if he tells you blah blah about the computer, tell him that's not the case, and if it is you can handle that, you just want the converter replaced.
There really isn't much to mess up with swapping them out as long as you get it seated all the way.

There's a number of reasons why I can't tackle it... I've got a broken left arm, a gravel driveway, and no tranny jacks.
I think what puts me over the edge is that I honestly don't feel like wrestling with the t-case. If the truck was a simple 2wd, I'd probably go for it anyway (once my arm is better in a month or so).

Check out Eastside performance...they are a sponsor, and I think they are within a couple of hours. Plus, from the looks of their services and parts, they look like a good place to get "hooked up" with. Maybe its too far, but just reachin' out there for ya.
