Default cant figure out what this noise is

I have an 03 4.8 silverado single cab long bed and it is making a weird noise. It almost sounds as if two metal objects are rubbing against eachother. The noise is only there when i start to accelerate and then it goes away. It doesnt make the noise when i rev it in neutral, only when i am in drive. Any ideas?

in no way am i insulting your Intelligence, but are you sure its not your brakes on the wear pads?

Try accelerating with your brakes applied slightly.

which pads did you change, do you have rear drums or disks and what's the condition of your parking brake system? also, you could have a caliper sticking slightly so you might check them. did one of them seem to be more difficult to push the piston back in?

I changed the front pads and all the pistons went down fine. My parking brake really doesnt do anything when I press it. Could that have something to do with the noise?

Yes your parking brake horseshoes probably have come apart from lack of use. The friction material comes unbonded and the rotors interior rusts causing the dragging noise. A tip when replacing them, dont remove the retainer bolt and clip as the bolt almost always breaks. You can pop the horseshoe out without taking the clip off.
