Can you paint over rhinoliner?

Default Can you paint over rhinoliner?

Just wondering if anyone has tried it. The previous owner of my truck had the bed rails rhinolined (black) and I'm thinking of painting the rails white.

i don't see why you couldn't as long as you put some effort into it. but I'd imagine it'll still chip if you haul things around in it.
I'm sure someone on here has tried it.

Yeah, I bet it will be OK and I can always touch it up if it flakes/peels. I don't want to do the whole bed, just the tops of the bed rails if I decide to go with the monotone white trim job (handles/mirrors/bumpers). There's too many trucks in this town that look just like mine...gotta fix that.

Talk to a good paint guy I'll bet theres a primer that will make your paint stick better like self etching primer.

Your still gonna have the build up line of the rhinoliner, that is unless you want to sand it all off and then repaint the whole bed. Did I mention that I hate when they rhinoline over the rail! They should just do the bed and be done!!!

um no dude ech primer will not help it has acids to etch the metal
most likely thing to happen is when u go to lay the base the solvents will attach the rhino lining by that time and it will blow up on u
blowing up is when it wrinkles and cracks and peels everywhere
im ppg certified so i am a good paint guy
