Default Can I use any ECM as a core?

Which ones are/aren't swappable? After being programmed correctly of course.

I've got an ECM from an '01 Tahoe that I'd like to send in as a core for my '01 Yukon XL with the 8.1L, so I can keep my stock ECM. Would that be a problem?

Thanks,
Michael
