Default Cam or Convertor first

What would be best to get first I was thinking of just doing a z06 cam at the most but dont know if a better convertor would be the first thing to get, also if anybody knows if a lq4 throttle body would fit on a 5.3 intake let me know would like to get some more air flowing. thanks for the advice

an lq4 throttle body is the same as the nbs 5.3 if its from 03 to 06 dbw , and IMHO i would do a converter b4 a cam but a real converter like a 258mm or a 245mm not no 278mm .....and then the cam ...

for a dd truck like myself, i noticed a significant gain with my circle d 278mm even on the stock cam. obviously cam selection plays a part in the stall rating and i am thinking of going to a 258mm next time, but for a dd truck the 278mm is a great stall imo that will easily pick up a few tenths at the track and run great on the street

The common answer here is converter first.

I've had it both ways: stock cam/3600 converter and stock converter/aftermarket cam. Ive enjoyed the cammed setup more, and if it wasnt for a little more noise no one would know it wasnt stock. But, I do want to try a different torque converter setup.

I will tell you that both ways can work very well, provided your cam spec is appropriate. A good tune is a must either way.

no dought i did a 278mm 1st and it was tons of fun then i jusped to a 258mm..the reaso I say do a reall 1 not a 278mm its couse eventually youll go to them... when you could have boughten 1 the 1st time around and saved your self those $500 that you spent on the 278mm.
