replacing the compressor and accumulator in my 99 silverado. I know the system requires 32 oz of 134a and 8 oz of pag 150 oil. I have a set of maniford gauges and a vacuum pump. Exactly how many 12 oz cans of 134a to put to make sure the system is charged properly. Also is it correct to add 4 oz of oil in the accumulator and 4 oz in the compressor? Thanks for any feedback

 

OK, well there are 16oz in a pound. 32oz is 2 lbs so 3 cans is safe since your gauges probably hold a few ounces. You need to be careful on the oil. Just because the system capacity is 8oz does not mean that it needs 8oz. Even if the system is empty on freon it most likely still has oil in it. Too much oil will kill the compressor. You are correct in splitting the oil, most likely you do not need a full 8oz.
