Default A/C and heater problem

Ok well my heater will blow hot for a few minutes and then it will suddenly switch to cold. I have to slide the dual climate control buttons to cold and then back to hot. After that is blows hot for a few more min and then goes back cold. The truck is a 05 Silverado crew cab. I had this problem once before it went out of warranty, but the dealership took care of it. I think it is a actuator. Anyone have any ideas on 1. where i need to look and 2. what part is causing the problem?
Thanks in advance.

Joe

You may need the Re-Park Calibration done on this one, because it don't really sound like the actuator is bad because it's technically still working.

How can I get that done? Is that something that I will have to take it to the dealership?

I think if I recall it's as simple and disconnecting the battery, turn ignition key on to remove any existing power in the sytem, turn key in OFF position. reconnect battery and start up the truck. Don't touch a thing for a minute and you should hear all the HVAC stuff cycle and thunk through.

Well I did the re-park procedure and it worked for a couple of weeks. Now the drivers side will only blow cold air no matter where the temp slider is set at. The passenger side still blows hot or cold so that side is a non issue. I'm now guessing it is possibly a door acutator (mixer) that has went out. Since it still blows hot or cold on the passenger side. Any one have an idea which one it is, and how would I go about replacing it. (I have heard there are 4 acuators for the HVAC system.)

I'll confirm your diagnosis, sounds like a bad actuator, sorry that I can't tell you which one though...
