What steering gear box's are interchangable?
I have a 96 impalas ss sitting around? Had a 78 caprice i was going to swap frames but gave up on it cuz cost isnt as easy as these truck. But the steering box on the 96 i know takes less for a full turn.
The trucks full frame vehicle. The body shouldnt have anything to do w structure for strength. I'm not touching the frame. I do want to hide the cage in the cab. Do you have to run the cage into the bed?
Is there a cage thats premade i can buy & stuff in my cab?

Been researching a lil. I know manual racks are crazy expensive.
But heres my safety list:
Roll cage-going to start w a 4 point thats ready to be turned into a 6.
Driveshaft loop.
I'll be upgrading rear end adding tech happy things.
My brakes are great so far.
Nice aluminum seat w new seat belt harness.
Might try to find a manual drivers door for easier window operation better than trying to find dangling switch.
I'm going to end up spending pretty penny getting leaks up to par on this old beater.

Stupid ?...whats rear firewall considered? Back off cab or front of bed?
Really just wondering if i still have to vent my NOS tank w a down tube & vent my battery box. Even tho they will be in the bed?
Can anyone post pics of cool placing to mount my taylor box in the bed above the axle?
If my fuel tank is factory & the plumbing also, am i going to get **** cuz the trucks a damn near gutted track only. At least they hope.
Will i run into fuel issues w my NX stand alone & stock fuel tank/pump.

For my battery i been researching. Going to hang it of my tow hitch. What side tho's best? Hopefully org tray is steel. I'll used that w my taylor box. Best part is my truck isnt pretty so cutting an access plate out of the bed floor. I want to find a way to reattach the panek without the studs for it facing up so i can still slide things up in the bed like 4x8's but need it still to be easily removable for jumping.

Adding more info for myself...since on budget. Ditching caltracs idea for now. Going to do spring clamps. Maybe eaton spring has something cool. Also maybe they can make me nice front springs.
? For anyone. Does stock carrier bearing & mount hold up well to slicks & 4:11. Or should i do sonething about that. I have nice hd ujoints already & its 2 piece steel high speed balanced.

Does 5 lug conversion front & rear cut a lot of weight?
I know running skinnies up front will...but i have stock aluminum 16" stockers w some lifht wheels on those even be that far from skinnies. I know i would benefit alot w 15" in rear.

I drive like an ******* & this thing is going to be skins other than the drivers door.
Plus i'm shooting it with nitrous & somethings going to break or at least i'm going to try.
I've been in freak accidents already before in the offroad. But it was when we were just on public roads. Reg. seat belts & a 4 point saved my life in a tin can of a samuria.

A nitrous controller would have how many of these electronic options, w that i should be on a nice safe setup? Like timing?
who does best tune now?
I like good experiences
I'd love to just drop it off somewhere around detroit?
But if it proven by anyone & i can stay home why not.
