I have a .81 housing on it right now but we still have the .96 laying around. I plan on putting the .96 housing on right off the bat. I doubt the .81 would work well even though we don't plan on reving this motor too high.

I just don't wanna jump the gun and get too big of a turbo and end up with lag again so we are going to coat all the exhaust components and redo some of the factory piping to elimate as many bends and restrictions as possible so the main restriction is just the turbo. I want a quick spool and decent low end and great midrange power. Power over 6k is not really a goal on this setup so the smaller turbo may work out ok.

How high you plan on spinning yours?

woohoo, this is sweet. i can't wait to see how it all works out for ya. sounds like you are not wasting any time jumping into it either.

what are you plaining for the rear? do you think just some slicks and caltracs will cover it or are you geting more extreme?

Jim,

I have not done much research yet on the rear. I doub't caltracs and slicks are going to cover it though. Traction stock sucks on these trucks. Even with the tired 4.8L in the truck now I burned em off pretty good durring the test drive

In my T/A I could dead hook on 11.5" ET Streets N/A (1.56 60' avg.) but with a measly 125hp dry kit I'd get wheelhop and horrible 60's. Even with the Spohn adjustable TQ arm and other stuff traction was tough. So I'm not going to waste money trying things then finding out they don't work then having to sell stuff again. I'm going to talk to Alston Chassis works up here in Sacramento and see what they reccomend as well as seom fo my PSCA race buddies that race 8-7sec cars and figure out what will guarantee traction and see what I can afford. I'm thinking a 4-link like Erik said would be best. This way i can make adjustments as needed also.

Do you have any ideas?

no ideas here that you dont have. 4 link right off the bat seems like a good idea. along with a 9" or 12bolt. maybe a mini tub job too. do it all while you are back there. quite a few $$$ but what can ya do.

I hear ya.

I just got off the phone with my friend Rocky with the 7sec yellow Nova. He reccomended I call up Alston Chassis works also. He is running one of their hardcore 4-link kits in his Nova and he thinks that a 4-link may be the way to go on my truck due to our horrible weight distribution. A ladder bar setup may not work well like it would on a car with a more even distribution. My problem at that point is seeing how all that stuff mounts up and make sure my butt turbo isn't in the way. So I may just drive over to their shop next week and have one of the guys check it out and see what they think. I really like the idea of being able to adjust instant center for max traction but also having streetability.

Here is a link to what i am looking at. I htink it would be the ELIMINATOR II PRO STREET 4-LINK.. Not sure though. I'm new to this stuff so I'll talk to the guy Rocky mentioned and see what they think would work best. The things look so wicked I could probably hook on VW bug tires with my measly HP. Hahaha

Not sure yet. It's cammed pretty good, but I think Chuck @ FLP said not to spin higher than 6600.

Muhuhahaha... When I was talking to Dave, he mentioned the STS GT76... I'm gonna see how well the 70 pulls, but since Rick S recommended it during the Two Guys shoot, it'll probably work for me. I know Rick ran the same spec turbo on his 396 (with a very similar cam). I feel like you do - I'll just shift sooner if it means better lag control.

You're scaring me bro

What kind of #s are you hoping for out of this. If you would rather not say anything in public just PM me. LOL

I knew there was no way in hell I could keep up with you mod for mod so I got the lighter truck just to **** you off.

Seriously though. I have been dying to see you go out and enjoy your truck so get that damn thing finish and this time keep the intake tubes on!

I'd love to run 9s, but that's just berserk in this truck!! I'll be happy if I can hit 10s. I think if I seriously tried for 9s I'd be breaking some expensive stuff and lose any streetability that I have left

I'll have you know I'm planning on drilling a bunch of holes in the truck until it is as light as your new truck!! You think 23,000 1 inch holes should do it? Lol
