Default to boost or not to boost

I have a cam(224/230 .581/.588 114lsa that i trade for some used slick) siting in my room just waiting to be installed but Im a little undecided on what route to go my friend suggest to put a turbo because it will be better and more fast, I'm on a budget and if i go turbo it can take me like a year , if a put the cam it will take me like 2 more months to 4 months cause I only need like 500 dollars more some parts and tune for being ready, I had a local turbo shop quote me a turbo system for $3,200 installed plus $350 dollars more for tune and dino time . I'm decided on stain with the 5.3 no engine swaps and i will like to be deep in the 8s 1/8 . right know i have Detroit tru tracks, 4.10 gears, super servos, shift kit, 2,500 converter, e fans, no cats, 6 year old flow master, k&n intake, also a 6 year old hipertech(yeah i know it sucks) truck is lowered 4/6 it is a ext cab and 2003 2wd my best time were 9.5 @ 74.5 mph wit a bad alternator and o2 sensor and with out the converter, haven't taken the truck back to the track after fixing it and installing the converter

So put that cam in then have it turbo'd That cam would work with both a turbo and Sc no problem.. All though with 410's it would be better suited for a SC..
