From C&D road test of the stock Z06 -

Standing 1/4-mile: 11.7 sec @ 125 mph
LINK

So Hennessey could only squeeze another .5 out with 115 more hp? That seems low. Maybe he ran on a greasy track in August or something.

Neither car had DR and at that power and speed traction makes a big difference.

Any airtime given to Hennessey is too much (i.e. no such thing as bad advertising).

Only 7 mph on the top end too? Granted the faster you go, the more power it takes to go even faster, but I'd figure more for a 100+ HP boost. Maybe not, I dunno.

anyone ever think that the times and mph that Ranger posted are exaggerated?

My point of the post was, Hennessey, granted he is a schmuck....he can drive better than most and makes more power....and still only boasted the times and mph you see on his site.

Until I see a better video of Ranger's run I call

I guess I kind of got off topic. I was just surprised of the minimal improvement over stock with all the extra power, notwithstanding the truth of the video.

I have no idea if picking up almost 1 second from traction only is reasonable for a Z06. From everything I have read (mostly C&D type road tests) with the traction control switched off, the Z06 shreds tires more violently than just about anything out there, so I would think that the difference from spinning street tires to a dead hook, or minimal spin could be pretty drastic. That is to say, lack of power might not be what's keeping the stock car from going faster in the 1/4. If this is the case, and in stock form traction issues are really bad, Hennessey's minimally improved numbers with huge HP gains might actually bolster the claim that gaining traction would make a bigger difference.

Taken to the extreme, think about putting street tires on a top fueler. If you double the HP or cut in in half, your ET will not change at all.

One might question the video qualty for such an ostentatious claim though.

MPH is a factor of HP not Traction.

so to be reasonable I will question his MPH claims and not the ET.

Looking at it that way, I think that I see your point better. Being down 100 hp and only coming up 3 mph slower seems pretty fishy.
