Cool the bigger they are the harder they go down

There is a crapload of modded Duramax trucks around here and I think everyone of them has some kind of programmer etc. Anyways all these guys think they are invincible and go on and on about how fast they are. But none of them ever go to the track. As luck would have it when our paths cross I am usually in my other truck or they are pulling a big farm trailer or etc etc. This morning I was washing my truck after a night at the track where I went a best of 7.46 in the 1/8th and one of the big bad MAxes drove by and threw a rev. Still having the ET Streets on and plenty of N20 in the bottle I chased him down to see if he wanted to get it on. He tells me that I shouldn't have wasted my time washing my truck 'cause when he got done it would have black smoke all over the front! We went to the usual street race location and after I did a quick burnout he asked "how do you want to do it" I said you just go and once it looks like you are fully underway then I'll go. He launched and I must say it just went-but when he got about 2 trucks out I went and spun about 20 feet. Once I hooked I hit the juice and I flew past him like being shot out of a cannon! I beat him by what my buddy who was with me said looked like an eighth of a mile (we ran a quarter) Not even close. I am still stoked. I am not cocky and don't usually brag but it sure felt good to put this guy in his place. Afterwards he told me that him and 1 other guy are the 2 fastest diesels around here. Until tomorrow when my other buddy gets his truck back on the road it looks like I have the fastest truck around here.

Nice kill! It feels extra good when you kick thier *** after they've talked trash.

I smoked a Dodge (previous body style) Cummins diesel with a huge exhaust pipe spewing extra thick black smoke this summer in my wimpy 99 5.3L. Driver was throwing revs and he and his buddy were acting like the fastest thing on 4 wheels. The light turned green and we raced for about an 1/8th mile. I took him bad out of the hole and left him way behind. I let off and he did the typical ricer fly by.

It's a nice time for sure, but there's still a number of street-driven trucks out there that would put it down with ease.

www.dragtruk.com is a good reference for what's fast.

10-11 sec R/T's whom I know:
Scott Quaranta's 11.2 sec R/T is street driven (SoCal)
Ron Merx drove his R/T to and from the track with the A/C on for his 10.7 pass (Houston)
I think Damon Blumenstein's 11.3-sec R/T is daily driven (Michigan)
Rob Rohe's 11.9 sec R/T is a daily driver (Michigan)
Dan Bennett's 11.9 sec R/T was a daily driver until he broke some parts, so he bought another R/T which runs 12.1's for his new daily driver. (Washington)

There's easily dozens if not hundreds of guys with R/T's in the low to mid 12's whose trucks are their daily drivers. Next week when my new tranny/torque converter/driveshaft come in I'll be one of them.

This is just the R/T's I know of... From what I've seen around the web the majority of the 10-11 sec Lightnings are street driven, if not still daily drivers.

Because inevitably some internet moron gets butt-hurt and starts inciting a riot because the rocks in their head interpreted it wrong, this isn't a flame at all. Major kudos to anybody who can get a truck into the 10-12 second range, I'm not trying to take away from that at all. I was merely responding to the comment that was suggesting he was the fastest street driven truck out there, nothing more.

I'm not a Dodge fan but I have to admit that's a nice lookin' R/T....so what do you run in it??

BTW...it's a brave soul that drives a Dodge and posts on a GM only board, I like people with ***** enough to do that, ecpecially ones that can appreciate the other brands and the work that people put into them

I do have to say though that is IS probably easier to make a Dakota with a 5.9 go 12's than it is to make a Silverado with a 5.3 do the same....I would think that there's ALOT of weight difference between the two

Dodges are HEAVY. I'm qualified to say that since I own one. But I own the pig. SOmething to consider before this debate goes in the toilet. There are hundreds of 10-12 sec daily driver trucks out there, but not ALL of them post here. We all know what the Lightnings can do. But please don't turn this into a Dodge V Chevy thread.
