Belt Squeak

LOL, yea, I used to spray belts down, I've used "belt dressing" that comes in a can, and it usually worked temporarily but only masked the real problem...and made a mess out of the front of the engine and accessories. I do use spray at work to diagnose if a squeal is coming from a belt or somewhere else (I like white lithium grease in the can)...one quick squirt, and if the noise goes away, the problem is with the belt *usually*.

But hey if it works for you, roll with it

heck yea ill still use it.. lol.. just like holding a broomstick handle to the your ear for noises.. know what i mean... lol..

yup i know exactly what ya mean there. done that alot at work diagnosing cars. helps out usually.

mine has a slight squeak when its cold or damp out also. wasn't there before the coolant bypass mod but i dripped some coolant on the belt and now when its damp out i get the squeak. once the trucks up to normal temp it goes away?

belt or tensioner?

A/C belt can be done from the top as well, just remove the upper fan shroud and air intake. It is easier from the bottom especially when you have a lift.

I guess it depends on the height of your truck.

I did it from the bottom without removing anything.
