that's an old bearing...interesting that the steering knuckle you got came with the hub assembly, the used parts houses i've dealt with usually send the just the knuckle, either way i never assume used wear parts are good at all...lucky no more damage occurred!

Both of you are correct, depending on the manufacturer of the bearing/hub assembly. If you're using a NEW part, then whoever is selling the part can tell you. However, if it is a USED part, you really have no way of knowing, so you should assume that they are different and NOT interchangable.

Luckily(for the driver of the truck) the damage was minimal, and nobody got hurt!

BTW, my parts supplier(Carquest) lists 2 different part numbers. 515036 for 4x4, and 515054 for 2 wheel drive. NAPA shows 2 different part numbers as well. But I have seen applications where they do actually use the same part numbers, maybe it was GM? I don't remember right now...

I have always been told since these trucks came out, that the bearings are not inter changeable from 4 to 2 wheel drive. But that’s what happens when you work for know it alls. And we have to use what the insurance wants to stay on the programs. You call a reputable LKQ parts vendor, and one would assume that there parts catalog would tell them that it wouldn't work.
