I'm in the same boat, but thinking of doing a new fuel pump and assembly off eBay brand new for $89 with free shipping. Same part number as autozone, orilleys, and advanced at 1/4 of the price!

What brand is the fuel pump? If you are already there you should just get the Walbro 255

Yeah I've also thought about a 255 and just the new sending unit. I'll wait and see how yours turns out. Good luck.

only advice is borrow a buddy, two jacks, and alot alot of patience.
Haha i dropped the tank by my self. no problem but putting it up was a pain in the *** also i would recommend draining out the fuel while its down... all of it! it helps so much! as for replacing the floater and sending unit, that's super easy. post pics later

A lot of guys will unbolt the bed and prop the drivers side up with a couple blocks of wood to get to the tank. Its easier than dropping the tank.

Yeah i thought it wouldn't be hard to just drop the tank but it was lol, if i ever have to replace anything in the tank i will be removing the bed.
