Hi Topgun,
I found this thread and thought I would add to it if I may.
Several have mentioned Optima, and I thought I would share some facts about Optima and our products.
Johnson Controls has owned Optima Batteries for more than 10 years, and in that time has built a brand new, state of the art facility to build Optima batteries. We don't build any other battery in that facility. Johnson Controls builds batteries for many of the retailers mentioned here, including O'Reilly's, but we are a separately operated entity.
Optima quality is better now than ever, and we strive to produce the best batteries possible.
I have owned Optima Batteries and ran them in my cars for 10 years, long before becoming an eCare Manager. Some are used daily, some weekly, some three times a year. Those that I use rarely, have maintenance chargers on them to maintain the proper voltage, which is really the key to long battery life, regardless of brand. When any battery is discharged below 12.4 volts, sulfation begins to diminish both capacity and lifespan.
If your truck is standard use, no big stereo or winch, then our OEM replacement RedTop is all you need for years of service. Our YellowTops are deep-cycle design, and used if you do have big amperage draws like a big stereo or winch. They work fine too as OEM replacements, but are more expensive than the RedTops and just not necessary in most applications.
I hope this helps, but feel free to ask if you have other questions about our product line.
Thanks,
Bill Howell

^^LOL

I have the stock battery in my 2011 right now but have had a yellow top that I have transfered from a few vehicles that has done well. Just haven't put it in the new truck yet since not much need for it now.
