Had a few that rollers didnt look good. Cam also looked like crap so just tore it down.

Few lifter rollers looked like crap and so did the cam hardening fail somewhere. One piston had a small blemish. So tore it down.

When this happened to me it was the hardening on the lifter wheel that failed. Sent that **** through the bearings and ruined a 55,000mi 5.3. I gought a junkyard 5.3 and then the 4l60e died.... went with a 6.0/4l80e FTW!!!!

I caught mine early or wasent as bad. My bearings look good but going to make it a 5.7 now. Did your rollers have small pitts in them?

Threads like these are becoming more common. Sorry about your luck.

They cut the additives in engine oil. Supposedly when the oil is burned, it kills the catalytic converter(s). I had an email with a link to an article about it. I can't find it though.

You should run diesel engine oil. Or at least put some nickel/zinc additive in the oil you use.
