AWD is thirstier and heavier and a bit slower at stock power levels. Where do you live? What are your plans?

It's less fuel efficient, yeah. If you don't drive in inclement weather or plan to make huge power then there's no real reason to have it unless you just want it.

Hummmm now I am second guessing if I want to buy the truck.. I don't need the awd but I thought it would be nice having it .. But since it's a 6.2 engine and awd kills
More gas. = mucho dinero..

The dealership tried to convince me that the AWD system that GM uses in those trucks is on demand, and that fuel economy isn't effected. I somehow find that hard to believe. The weight alone would effect fuel economy, and who knows how often the system kicks in.

Would love to see a comparison outside of the dealer stickers.

I get 12 city, 16 highway in my CCSB 6.2 4x4 with the 3.73 gears. Obviously I leave it in 2wd. Mods are intake, tune, and heavy 285/70-17 Duratracs. With factory rubber my mpgs would be a little better, and without the 4wd mileage would go up a bit more as well. Why do you want the truck? If you can afford a Denali what difference does it make whether you get 10mpg or 12? A Denali is a $50k truck. If you can't afford the extra gas the 6.2 uses but want the power, get an SL or SLE 6.2 and use your savings from the Denali to pay for the extra gas or don't sweat the mileage at all; it's a truck, how much driving are you going to be doing?
