On my 99 Sierra, the Auto 4wd switch is giving me trouble. If I happen to put it in 4 lo, it doesn't want to shift out. The light on the switch will blink for about a minute and then just stay in 4 lo. It always eventually shifts out after a few tries, but I'm worried sometime it won't. Is this just a problem with the switch? Ir is it something mechanical? And if I do have to swap out the switch, can the lights be changed? I wanna change my dash lights to blue.

The switch could be bad, and yes they do fail often. There is only a couple of possibilities of the problem. The switch, the shift-module, or the Actuator (encoder motor). I replace the Actuator quite frequnetly, especially this time of year. The problem lies in the sensor inside the Encoder Motor, which can be replaced seperately.
First I would go to the dealer and have them try a Re-Flash the Transfer Case Module. This works alot.
If you need anything else...feel free to pick my brain.
