Got one in my shop right now, with the exact same problem as yours. Use the GM seal tablets and this will fix it.

Look...all they are is crucjed up walnut hulls with a collant reactive sand. Forms a hard seal when it been liquified and then exposed to air.

Millions and millions of GM engineers and cars all ove the world can't be wrong.

But that's IMHO

I consider it a band aid for a leak...wouldn't you agree?

Well it's band aid for a leak that you can't find...or a leak that you don't know you have....such as a mysterious lack of coolant.

If you are still under warranty, I'd go bitch and moan to the local dealership and they shoulden't give you any grief over that. I know that I would not say anything. The way I look at it is....why turn down warranty work, because it's free money! Dealers that cry over modifications tick me off.....I see a modification, and I just say nothing about it. Repair it under warranty, get paid...customer goes home happy.....everyone is happy!

I just changed my water pump gaskets. Been noticing a leak for about a year or so now finally found it a couple weeks ago during an oil change. I went ahead and changed the pump while I was at it since I have 161,000 miles on it, better safe than sorry.

There is a new bulletin out about the heads cracking arond the head bolt holes. The coolant mixes in with the oil, and it get all cruddy up in the valve covers.
