Default air gun on ball joint press?

is it safe to use air gun on ball joint presses? Seems like a waste of energy to turn it so much?

I've done it w/. air plenty of times. Zip the press /. air, on or off if the acme thread is way off (does that make sense?), depending on which you're doin. Get it close, eyeball it so it's centered, crack air gun a lil to make sure it's still aligned & blast away.
BTW, what city in MI do u live in?

I couldn't imagine using a balljoint press like that w/o an impact.
