Default Air Filters, again?

Hey guys,
as most of you all know I recently got a 2006 ext cab with 5.8 bed, that's right; a CC bed on an EC. very very happy, especially with the 4.10 gears now. Big question is- and I've loked but maybe not hard enough for air filter reviews. So I'm here to seek recommendations from those in the know. This is my baby, she's got 98k on the clock now and not using any oil...............

If you are just worried about keeping the most crap out of it and driving it like normal stick with an OEM style paper filter.

You honestly can't go too wrong with off the shelf paper filters. I buy house brand from Advanced Auto, etc. most times. Sometimes I will shop around a bit for what is the most reasonable pricing.

I believe it was Black Bear that did a back to back dyno comparison of several after market CAI's, and the Airraid MIT with stock air box/filter performed as good or better than most on a completely stock 5.3l. Try to find that thread if you can, had good info.

Cool- I have the stock airbox with air raid tube, a little more growl. Heard good things about the NAPA and Wix, but all I can find are round elements...........

I would just keep a stock style one...they work the best by far! Id gladly give up 2hp for 10x better filtration.

Cool- I was leaning toward keeping the stock air box, just inquiring about a good filter. Now about swiss- cheesing that air box................
