Why 4 cylinder? There usually already setup for 8. Some require cutting wires (mine has dip switches) for 6 or 4 cylinder modes. So are you sure that it needs to be 4 cylinder?

What's the advantage of running an aftermarket tach? Is something wrong with the factory one?

Its VERY slow (mine is anyway) and with most aftermarkey cams etc etc, a lot of guys shift past 6K, and want to know where they are.

I wan't one that isn't slow, goes past 6000rpm and that has a shift light. The only problem is that they're usually 5" big. I think I'm just going to go with a shift light and use the tach wire mentioned earlier.

i took mine out for now and un hooked my gauges im getting all new phantom gauges and i held my tach in with double sided tape real thin and it never moved i didnt want to drill into the dash or pilliar

I will be spinning past 6k. Check out the autometer 2302. 3 3/4" and has internal shiftlight

If it has a switch u should be fine. I did have to cut a wire on mine to set it as 4 cyl.because the 8 cyl. setup didn't work. Depends on the type of tach I guess...
and GM is wired a little diff. than other trucks.

i had a auto meter monster tach with shift light and then my buddy had a proform tach the both had to be cut for 4 cylinder

Did it not read in 8 cyl mode? Just curious so that I have something to help troubleshoot.
