Default 96 Z28 smoked me!

Whats up guys , well my friend has a car lot and we were checking out the cars and he had a nice z28 lt1 i think 5.7 and i said ill run you he said all right so we were going around 30 and we were talking through the nextel radio service and said go!!!! well we probably stayed even till like 60 65 then he started gaining on me pretty good and killed me by about 3 and a half cars the Z28 was stock looking but had a weird looking intake and i could see it was probably owned by a ricer cuz it had traces of stickers on the lower part of the doors. haha. it had 120k miles on it and manual you all think that was a good run for my truck, hey guys what should i do to keep up with a lt1 or just run solid 14s easy? laters

You wont be able to keep up with an LT1 6spd on a freeway roll AT ALL!

They run 104-107mph with just a cold-air kit and exhaust which almost every Camaro in the world has.

What makes things worse is that they are manuals so from a roll you're even more screwed! Back when my T/A had just bolt-ons I would run 12.8@110mph yet my friends 95' LT1 6psd would trounce me on the freeway with ease. His car could only pull 13.7s at 105mpg or so.

What a car can pull ET wise at a track should never be confused with what it can do to you on the freeway. Just take a look at some Supras that run low 12s in the 1/4 yet trap 130+mph

In essense you need to do all the basic bolt-ons and a nice cam if you wanna even hang with one and then a shot of nitrous if you wanna go playing on the freeway. In the 1/4 you can really **** em off though.

I had a 6 spd heads/cam Camaro before got my truck, and the Camaro had awesome throttle response from a roll. A lot different than my truck.

Couldnt have put it better myself. For the few weeks my LT1 was stock it was a dog from a stop. It was quite a bit better from a 45-50mph roll. Mine was an auto though so the roll thing wasnt as crazy.

My car ran 14.42 at 106-110 in third gear, but I only got pulled once on the street from a roll, and it wasn't by a truck.
