Default 96 Blazer Intake Gaskets

Hey guys, I'm currently driving my dad's 96 Blazer with the 4.3 tbi. I'm pretty sure that his intake gaskets are leaking as the truck has a slight hesitation and it's losing coolant...I've taken a quick look and something's seeping from the front/corner of the intake, not sure if it's oil or dexcool.

Anyway, if and when I condemn the intake gaskets, is there anything special that I need to know to replace them? What parts do I need? I know that I need the intake gaskets, distributor gasket, and RTV, but is there anything else? I don't want any surprises when I go to do this repair, I'd like to have my ducks in a row.

Thanks in advance!

Billy

You've got it all covered bro. It's not a great undertaking. Tedious but not really bad. Shoot me your vin and I'll get you a list of the required parts if you'd like.

I would get Fel Pro gaskets, instead of GM gaskets. From my experience they last longer. And it wouldn't be a bad idea to change t-stats while your there.

To be honest with you, I've had worse luck out of Fel-Pro gaskets than I have with GM OE gaskets. Fel-Pro seem to have a leakage problem, unless you request gaskets with compression rings in them.

Besides, Victor makes the Gaskets for GM's OE selection.

Hmmm, another question...anything special that I have to do to set the timing? Like a connector that needs to be jumped? How many degrees do I set the timing to when I'm all done? Or does the distributor bolt in without having any adjustment (I obviously haven't looked that closely yet lol)

Get the new GM gaskets. They are solid aluminum with a green silicone printoseal around them. Best design I have seen yet.
