Just curious, why are you wanting to do this?

LOL... Neil
Big expensive job. That would involve an entire rear end swap to be proper. Not to mention the front, and warranty isssues. Just wondering the motivation for a swap like this.
Ps: moving to GM Truck Appearance/suspension section

I think I know what the motivation is now...I forgot that Ben was the guy with the sweet ATI Z71 Tahoe. That rearend's days are numbered. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Instead of converting to 8-lug, how about just swapping a 14-bolt 10.5" rearend under the beast? There is a guy over at pacific-audio that has done just that recently under his blown '99 Tahoe 2wd. I can't remember which company he got it from right now, but it's a nice unit. It's a heavy duty 3/4-ton rear and he had custom axles made so he could still run his 5-lug wheels. Here's a couple links w/pics:

Hope this helps! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Hey Ben, I did a little searching, check this out:
http://www.mcmotorsports.com/frontend/product.asp
http://www.mcmotorsports.com/frontend/default.asp
And:
http://www.motorsport-tech.com/index.html
Maybe they can make you some 6-lug to 8-lug adapters?? I think the older 5.0 Mustang guys have used these to convert from the factory 4-lug hubs up to 5-lug so they could get some cool wheels.

That's a good hook up Neil. I was considering something like that for my Dodge, so I could use my factory Chevy wheels/tires instead of buying new tires for the Dodge, but the ones I need are $$$.

Actually I was given a set of the 1500hd wheels with 33 bfg's I guess there is no easy way to convert from 6 to 8. Maybe I can just weld the wheels right on there- just kidding

Neil,
Thanks for the link. They do make the conversion. It is a 3 inch piece (thick) I just have to see if that is going to work... And the cost is 1100.00 for 4 ...That is defintiely not going to work.
I will probably sell these wheels and the idea-
