Default 6.0 L question

What is the diffrence between a ls2 and the 6.0 liter that comes in 04 trucks. besides one block being iron and the other being aluminum why did one produce more hp then the other? Thanks I tryed searching but didn't conclude anything in depth or very clear.

The LS2 has different heads, higher compression, different block design, new computer tuning and a different camshaft...those are the only things I know for sure but I'm betting there are quite a few others
