So I'm new to the site and foun there is a whole lot of information on these motors. I was wondering if anyone could help steer me in the right direction so that I could learn about which heads are better and Which blocks have what in them and all that. I've herd about the heads that are cast 862 but don't know why they're better than other heads. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

 

My suggestion is to use the search on this forum and look up what you are wondering about, there is a ton of info on this forum, and Im willing to bet any question you have has already been answered.

But to make your first question simple, the 862s are the basic 5.3 heads. They arent all that great in stock form, but can be very good with some work.

If you start pumping casting numbers and whatnot into the search I bet that you'll find even more

 

Ok cool thanks guys. Yeah I'm currently running on an oldschool iPhone so searching is a little hard on it that's why I ask. As far as casting numbers go are there a lot of them for the 5.3L and what should I be lookin for when I do look at the heads?
