Default 5.3 oil leak

Got a 99 z71 with the 5.3 recently started leaking oil from what I thought was the rear main but it's not pulled the flywheel inspection cap and all down inside there is dry. The drivers side valve cover is pretty nasty but I don't think it's leaking any other ideas? Seems to be coming from drivers side

i went through this checked all the above listed things. turned out my valley cover bolts under the intake manifold lossened up and was coating the valve cover as well as a ton of other stuff. im not saying thats the problem but give them a check. i replaced the valve cover gasket the olipan gasket and the sensor on the back of the block before i found it. hope this helps

Interesting info mattjones. I'll be checking that next on my brother's truck, since it still has a minor leak.
