Default 4L60E swap to 4L80E need info.

Going to go with a 383 and I want to get a 4L80E trans. Will it bolt in place of the 4L60E? Will I have to mod the drive shaft or anything? Any help would be gre8t

What year is the new motor? What year truck is it going in to?

You will probably have to use a crank spacer for the flywheel, a wiring harness adapter, a shorter driveshaft, a new (or modified) crossmember. Fluid lines will also have to be modified. Speed Engineering (sponsor) has a kit that you can buy for the conversion http://speed-eng.com/store/index.php?cPath=23_940_1409

You will also need a tune update.

It is going into a 96 GMC 1500 Ext Cab. I will have a 1 piece rear main seal 383 stroker.
