Default GM weight increase

The new Tahoe is apparently heavier. Are the next generation GM trucks using the same platform? If that is the case then they will gain some weight like Dodge/Ford.

I'm positive that the new 2007 Tahoe and new GM trucks will all have the GMT-900 chassis platform. I wonder if the added weight will compensate nicely with the new, more powerful engines? In the end, I think the 2002-2006 GM trucks and SUV's will have the best horsepower-to-weight ratio.

The weight is due to the fully boxed frame, but if 5.3s with 295hp and 3.23 rear end is putting down 8.1 0-60 i wouldnt be surprised if the added weight and horsepower would run quicker. The 5.3 has 340tq too now so 320hp thats 25 plus hp so i would say the added weight wont be a problem. Also it will probably be 400 more pounds making an ECSB weight at 5450 and a CCSB weight at 5700.
By my calculations it will be the same or a bit faster with the new engine and platform.
07
ECSB 4x4 with 320hp= 15.8 1/4
CCSB 4x4 with 320hp= 16.1 1/4
06
ECSB 4x4 with 295hp= 15.9 1/4
CCSB 4x4 with 295hp= 16.1 1/4

More weight more power same performance.
