4.8 or 5.7

Other than cubic inches and some performance, what are some differences between the 4.8 and 5.7? My reason for asking is that I'm thinking about getting a '99-'02 Silverado.
Another question, as far as mods go, with either motor I would be looking at doing exhaust, intake, tune, etc. What kind of numbers might I be looking at as far as hp/tq?

yea its either a 4.8 or 5.3 in the 99-up trucks
unless you upgrade to the 6.0
well from the factory the 5.3 was rated 10 hp and about 30tq better than the 5.3 and from experience the 5.3 definetely pulls harder than the 4.8

everything works fine although when i first bought it a few months ago i dropped it into 1st manually and punched it and spun alittle and forgot it was in first and it went 6krpm++ and shot the water pump pulley and fan into my radiator and ended up costing me $400 on a 150k mile engine but thats about it
has plenty of power for a daily driver and it responds well to minor boltons from what i read/hear
im shifting at 5800-5900rpm (superchips) and it shifts to 3rd at 90mph
mine does fine but im looking for a lower mileage truck to do many mods to( under 90kmiles)
id suggest not going over 100k on miles cause most everything is worn out ( excluding motor) is getting there on mine

is the intake exhaust and tune all you will do if so definetely get a 5.3 if not you MIGHT get a 4.8 cheaper if you plan a motor swap later on
