4.7 dodge dyno numbers?
I was at the local book store when I picked up the latest issue of Trukin magazine. I was thumbing threw it when I saw a dodge ram truck on the dyno, along with a new jet module. I first thing i thought was they are testing it for the hemi. It was a RCSB 4x4 with a lift and 38 inch tires. Stock on a MUSTANG dyno jet dyno they said that it put down 255 rwhp . With the module it added 23 rwhp now its up to 278 . Then I looked back and it was for a 4.7! I thought what the heck. My modded 5.3 on a reg dyno jet put down 255 and the same place dynoed a hemi 2wd at 250. And the place that I dynoed at isn't fond of one brand of truck. Is the difference in the 2 dynos that different or are they way off. Also the module was the only mod done to the truck.

Don't know about the numbers, but I raced one before. I turned around on the highway to line up with him, my right rear dropped off the shouler in the process and got full of Louisiana red mud without my knowledge. We took off at the third horn and he left me bad because of the really bad smoke coming from the my back tire, I just sat there spinnin' for a bit. I had to let it completely off the gas to let it catch and then get back in it lightly till it got going and then I nailed it. He was about 4 or so lengths ahead when I finally got going and by the quarter mark I was even and was way ahead for the last 1/8 or so and still pullin. That was before heads, rockers, thorleys, bump stop mod and predator. I raced another one and he refused to race me anymore, wound up trading his in for a GMC.

That's some neat stuff, too bad ours is the wife's daily driver.
I have a 4.7 in my '03 Durango. I could see with the mods they had done that it got up to 250 hp. I would love to dyno ours, but with it being AWD I can't justify it ($$) just for gee-whiz reasons.
I can say that the motor acts just like every other Dodge V8; good power on the bottom/mid-range but runs out of steam quickly above 4,000 rpm.
The only mod I've done to mine so far is an Airaid CAI, which honestly all I wanted it for is to give me a little better gas mileage. I gained almost 3 mpg with it. I think a couple of the 4.7L HO cams would complement it nicely though. Nice soft idle and the wife would never notice it.
