Default 4.3L removal. Tranny stuck?

Ok, trying to pull my 4.3 out and thought i was good to go. Problem is my engine and tranny seem to be "stuck" together. Quick double check, how many bolts hold the tranny to motor? The TC is NOT attached to the flywheel, I can reach up behind and spin it freely. My thinking is its stuck on the alignment pins. How do you all suggest I break this thing loose?

On an unrelated note, what all do I need to unhook from the tranny electronically? I'd like to keep the tranny under the truck if possible.

Thanks...

Take a punch and hammer and hit the pins from the motor side to the rear. If you have access to an air hammer makes it alot easier.

Alright, I'll see what I can do. Is this a common problem?

Yes very common! As far as trans wiring just follow the wire loom off engine harness & unplug what is needed

Cool. Hopefully I can get it to pop loose alright. Im figuring it'll be easier to trace the tranny wiring with the motor out. Not much room to work up in there with everything in there and all the 4wd stuff. Basically looks like the one main loom running across the the top of tranny, the connections on the drivers side of the tranny itself, then something must run back to the transfer case? what all am i missing?

Me, I've always found it easier to pull the complete wiring harness with motor. But there should be maybe 4 plugs on transmission with transfer case.
1 on shifter, 1 on the passenger side behind heat shield, and 2 on transfer case. 1 being for speed O & 1 for the 4 wheel drive!

Yep, my 5.3 was stuck to the tranny. Was exactly as stated... just tap the dowel pins a few times and presto!

Also when putting back together take sandpaper to the dowel pin holes and on the pins and use anti-seize on them. It will help if the trans needs to be removed again
