4.3 to 6.0 Swap Questions
#1
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and thinking about doing a swap in my 2000 Chevy 1500 4x4. I've found a complete 6.0/4L80e setup minus wiring harness and ecu. Anyways, I've seen some trucks here that have this conversion done so could anyone give me a rough over-view of the process? I want to know just how much is involved, I'm not really afraid of a mechanical challenge, just want and idea of what has to happen. Also, I'd be interested to hear if someone has a harness and ecu for sale. Thanks to all.

u will need a harness, your pcm should work...obviously u will need a retune, and u will need motor and frame mounts from a 1/2 ton truck with the 4.8/5.3...do some searching, theres lots of info on v6-v8 swaps

Well, the 6.0 found a new owner before I could get to it. But I found a nice clean 4.8 with lower miles for a resonable price. Now, I'd keep the original tranny, so that issue is no longer a problem. The 4.8 would come with a harness/computer/ect. so from what I've read it should be a pretty straight across swap, everything should plug into the truck. v-8 mounts, different radiator shield, motor/flexplate should fit right up to the existing tranny, anything I'm over-looking? How about a/c lines? I don't suppose the 4.3 a/c setup can be swapped cuz they are in completely different positions (probably different compressors i would assume?) Thanks.
