what are you looking for with the mods you buy. to go faster off the line? or just be faster over all. i would think cam, verter, and thorley headers. you should be able to get all that for under 2K. you might have enough for a tune if you got a vette cam or something

gmc5.3L,

I would highly suggest a NX wet kit. For the money, which is around 300-500 bucks, you can't go wrong.
