Smile 2009 vortec max questions?

I know the new 09 have the L92 style heads a 6 speed auto and 3.73 gears but what kind of performance does a ex cab 4x4 have? I drove a 08 with 4.10 and it was a dog until 4000rpm then it was like the engine woke up. Now you cant get 4.10 gears in them because of the 6 speed but would the closer ratio of the transmission with 3.73 be faster than a 4 speed with 4.10's? I expect a custom tune would really help out alot with them but I thought I read something were they cant get all the tq management out of the transmission?

Also how much power do you guys think is left on the table with full bolt ons a large cam and a stall when they are available? Possible to get 430rwhp out of one?

heres some math for ya.

the 08s had the 4L60E with a 3.0 first gear and now they have a 4.0 first gear on the 6L80E.

3.0 x 4.10 = 12.3
4.0 x 3.73 = 14.9

You'll be putting down 20% more torque in first gear even with the higher 3.73 ratio. So yes, it should feel and be quite a bit faster...the extra gear will help out also. There's an extra drive gear and one extra overdrive gear.

it may feel like a dog stock, bunch of delays and tq managment, but it will be a strong runner once tuned. easily faster than the 08

Yep, that 4000rpm wake up is strictly in the computer tuning. There is also a jump at 5300rpm or so. Tuning will wake it up big time.

I'm just guessing but, I'd think high 14s at least out of a ECSB 4wd MAX.

Hey guys thanks for the info. After driving the model I did last year I would like to trade in this year. I would love to have a duramax but the extra 7200 dollars for the option is a little crazy. Then the only model I could afford would be the rclb and when you have a ex cab now its hard going back. I love the 6.2 motor but freakin GM only wants guys that are willing to spend 40,000+ to have them. That is why im seriously looking at a vortec max 6.0. BTW keep the info coming thanks

I knew when I drove it. I thought GM make a truck with 367hp feel like it had 295hp. But when 4000rpm hit you could feel it pull much much harder, then tach rocketed then a shift then it bogged down again. A custom tune would make a hudge difference.

Do they make a TVS 1900 for the Vortec Max yet? That would have to make it a 12sec truck.

It be close to 12's on a stock truck for sure. I've got the TVS 1900 with a small cam, heads and headers. It runs very strong
