2006 Cluster help
#1
I need a little help from somebody who has a 2006 2500HD gas powered truck with a transmission temperature gauge in the cluster. I have a 2006 ECRB Vortec Max which is basically a SS without all the glitz but it has no trans temp gauge. I know there are lots of aftermarket dealers out there with clusters, but nobody sells a replacement for my truck that looks exactly like mine with orange needles and a black face and a trans temp gauge. I found a nice new Denali cluster with white needles but the bezel is gray, not black. I like it and at 299.99 it's a pretty good deal but I want a black bezel not gray. I could buy it and use my old bezel but I was thinking if I could find someone with a 2006 2500HD with a temp gauge (I believe the cluster is the same with PRND321) that would be willing to PM me the last 8 digits of their VIN number, I could buy it directly from GM because I get a better price there and don't have to change the bezel. I have a real good parts guy at the dealer I deal with and he says there are so many cluster to choose from he would rather have a VIN# than guess which cluster will work. If anybody has a 2006 gas powered 2500HD that would be willing to send me their VIN# (last 8) I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Thanks for reply Nick
Good idea but how do I tell if they have a tranny temp gauge unless I see a picture or I ask them? I guess if I don't get a reply from one of the guys on the forum, I'll have to do that.

Thanks Bigredexpress99
I guess I can hope that anybody with a 2500 would send me a VIN. I really like the Denali cluster i found. Maybe I'll just order it and a new black bezel. At least it will be unique.
Thanks

They have them for 06 too.
Are you saying that if my 2006 Denali cluster (if I owned a Denali) malfunctioned, I couldn't buy another one?

Things like radios and complete exhaust systems for current years are only available for a short time before being discontinued. GM doesn't hang on to parts as long as they used to. I don't think it's a matter of them not selling it to you, it's just no longer available. Clusters, radios and communication systems are usually repaired by outside vendors and are the only place to get parts or repairs done. They usually don't have complete new clusters for very long. I've checked with my dealer and I can buy just about any cluster I want as long as it's still available.
