That new ford is crazy heavy and it's meager 300hp is not enough to help it deal with this weight.

I am not sure which mag it was (I think it was Car and driver) but I remember reading how the testers felt that the Ford was literally slow. It's crazy how such an underpowered heavy truck could get the truck of the year "honors".

I still think Chevy/GMC builds one of the BEST V8's out there, other than Ferrari.

Oh yea, props to you JayStew, good job on your kill!

i agree alot of it is your tune. the truck is probably quicker than them to start with, but the tune is lightyears over stock. my boss' demo is an 03' extended cab z71 with protec box (50 lbs lighter) and 3.73's. going from the stock programming to just using a hypertech programmer and working with the settings made it feel like it actually had all of the 285 advertised hp and more. good kills.

I know without a doubt that I would'nt have been able to take the Hemi without Nelson's tune. Being able to keep pulling in the higher RPM is what helped me out. As for the Ford, it would have been a very close race stock vs. stock. But it was a 2wd vs 4wd

.

How much do they weigh? Mine is about 5250lbs.

I don't know how you came up with this... or how a big z71 can beat a reg cab hemi, it's all about the tune!!! before the tune, he couldn't beat one, after he can. I guess it could have been the cai that's rated at an additional 30hp ,

btw Jaystew, I knew you would get another chance to clean the streets up.
just wait till you get that cam in, it's gonna be about 10 truck lengths

I havnt gotten to really run a hemi yet. I lined up at a stop sign against one but didnt think he wanted to race, but we left at the same time and i heard him chirp his tires so i hammered it and flew past him by the time we reached the other side of the intersection then he wouldnt go again when we hit the next intersection.
