2001 Chevy Tbi engine swap

Default 2001 Chevy Tbi engine swap

My dad and I have a 2001 1500 4.3 Tbi and we want to do a motor swap. What would be the best option. It's not the first swap I've done. But I haven't done computer to computer before.

What are you wanting to do with it??? Id say either 5.3 or 6.0, but thats me....,

Wouldn't you guys say it'd probably be easiest to pull the ECM/wiring harness out of a truck with a 5.3/6.0?

If it were me, i'd definitely go for a 6.0 if you can find one. What is your budget on the build?

A full takeout motor with everything you need will likely be the way to roll...so you get an alternator, harness, ecu, etc.

If you can swing it, an L92 is the cats ***. Rectangular port heads flow big numbers.

It's a Vortec 4.3. TBI 4.3's last year was 1995 in a fullsize truck (although the valve covers said "Vortec" since 1994 it was still a TBI setup.) Not that it makes a huge difference for this discussion...

What are your goals with it, and what's your budget? Without knowing either of those it's hard for anybody to make a helpful recommendation.
