2000 Silverado 5.3 Sputtering?

Plug wires all checked out ok, but like I said I'm changing them out and new plugs next week anyway.
You guys think a fuel pump might have caused any of this? It is pretty loud, you can hear it pumping away. That doesn't make it bad or anything just curious.
I'm for a loss on this right now. I've gone over everthing I could think of. It's like the truck figured out it didn't have the 93 octane in it, and was adjusting for the 87 octane until it got it right? Possibly it has a tune on the ECU, how would I verify if it had a tune on it or not?

I did the fuel filter the weekend it got it along with the oil, oil filter, tranny filter and fluid. The seafoam in the tank with a tank full of 93 octane was also done. I had no problems at all gas was still down a bit so the next tank was 93 octane also, now gas is up so I did 87 octane. Then the problem.... But it acts fine now no problems at all....
I'll prolly do another fuel filter when I do the plugs, hopefully the seafoam cleaned the tank a little!

mines been whining for a year or so. espically when it idles for a while. could be a bad coil pack but that throwes a code i believe. a bad 02 sensor would throw a code. thats whats crazy about these trucks if something is bad wrong like that it should throw a code but sometimes they want. hmm i duno drive it till something breaks i guess or goes out lol. i dont know of anything else to tell you.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I don't want to start replacing major parts until they for sure fail. I notice the pump whinning more when its idles also.
It wasn't a dead miss like in wires, plugs, or coil packs. It was a back fire through the CAI, temperary loss in power, and about 5 minutes of stumbling idle. Then everythings ok not one problem and no codes. That's why I leaned more towards the computer adjusting for the decrease in octane.

Bringing this one back to update everyone who helped on this one.
I ended up driving it until some thing finally broke and it ended up being the fuel pump. I pulled the bed off and changed it my driveway.
Thanks for all the help everyone....
