2000 Silverado 5.3 Sputtering?
I recently bought a 2000 Chevy Silverado ECSB with the 5.3. She has 86,XXX miles on her and only performance mod is a K&N CAI.
I have only ran 3 tanks of gas through it so far. The first two tanks were with 93 octane and the last tank today I put 87 octane in it. After I filled it up this morning with the 87 I got on the highway and was stuck in stop and go traffic. After about five to ten minutes in traffic the truck began to idle very low, and spit and sputter when I tried to give it some gas. It would idle between 200-500 rpm by itself, and would almost die when I gave it gas. A few times it would pop through the CAI, sputter some more, and die. I had some help to push it out of traffic and few mintues later was able to get it running again. I let it putt and putt on the side of the highway and then all the sudden it's fine. I get on the highway and put 70 miles on it no problems. And then come to work still no problems. What gives????? Is this normal????
By the way with the 93 octane in it I have had no problems whatsoever only after the 87 octane. And it has been averaging 19.4 miles to the gallon with highway and city driving.

I did forget to mention that I did run the Seafoam gas treatment in the first tank of 93 octane.
The maf is clean, the throttle body is also clean. I plan on doing the plugs and wires this pay day.
I've already changed the oil to Mobil 1 and changed the filter and fluid in the tranny.
Should I do the Seafoam through the throttle body?

Maybe It Has A High Octane Tune... Or A Handheld Tune... If You Have It Set For 91 Tune... I Have Seen It Have Issues Changing Back To The Low Octane Table When It Pings... So It Flat Out Cuts Timing.... That May Be The Problem

No codes at all. I was kind of thinking it possibly had some sort of tune in it. WOT it runs like a scalded dog. And I'm only have the issue with the lower octane.
The guy I bought it from said he never did any tune or hand held on it, but he did buy it a few years old from the dealership.

Check your plug wires. I've had this happen on the last 2 of my trucks. both 04 GMC's, but one had a plug wire that just got loose and the other one a plug wire got too close to the header and burned it. Never threw any codes, but it ran like ****, especially from stops. Once it got rolling it did OK. Try that first, cause I like you had just gased up, and thought I got bad gas, ran a can of seafoam in it, several cans of de-waterer, almost drained the tank and refilled, but it turned out to be a bad plug wire.

nah run seafoam through the vacuum line coming off the back of the intake. fuel filters are cheap also and if i would have just bought a different truck i would do all maintenance work to it asap. could very possibly be a plug or plug wire, the wires sit very close to headers. also these trucks are kind of picky for plugs get either some ngks or stock.
