Possibly is thicker on a 2500HD, however I am not talking thickness here, just rail height. I wouldn't doubt that the thickness of the 8" portion of the frames on both trucks is identical.

And oddly enough my 04 2500LD with 4.10's is legal to tow more than the same truck badged as a 2500HD. You have to love the way they rate things. Physical weight difference between the trucks... maybe 200 pounds, apples to apples.

In 2004 some of these trucks mustve been mixed with the low profile bumper cover because my friend has a 2004 2500hd duramax with the same bumper maybe earlier 2004 models had this then later they used the thicker cover. Also i this the 1500hd's ce with 5.3 motors if im not mistaken.

Imo the cover i bought looks way better then the low pro one n i saw how i can lower the mounts on the frame of the frame ... not my first rodeo fabin things n i dont mind i was hust lookin to see if i had to buy a diff set of brackets as an easy way out.
No, a 1500HD is an 8600 lb GVW truck and never had any other powertrain than the LQ4 and 4L80E. Came as 2 or 4wd with either 3.73's standard and 4.10's optional.

My friend sent me a photo of a 2500HD ( supposedly) with a Duramax anyway, 03-04, with the smaller chassis over the rear end. Either someone built it at home or GM did some strange things.

I personally think the 1500 cap looks better then the 2500HD cap and as I said earlier I did the opposite of what your trying to do.

Here's a link to what I did....you may get some ideas from the pics and essentially do the opposite.

Can you take a picture of the front bumper as it sits now (preferably from a position that has no up or down angle so I can see how things sit on your front end)

good luck with your project!!!
