If you have the small cap you have a 1500hd, not a 2500hd.

You will have to cut the frame horns off and lower them 2 inches.

Cut the frame? The 2500HD and up have a body lift from the factory.

Sounds like you have an 04 2500 LD like I do. There were no 1500HD's in 2004. 2001-2003 yes, and 2005-2007 classic yes but in 2004, possibly because they released a 1/2 ton crew cab finally, the 1500HD was not offered and the trucks are just badged 2500.

Easy way to tell is look at the chassis where it goes over top the rear diff. If the C channel is only 6" tall it's a light duty 2500. If it's a full 8" over the diff it's a 2500HD. And that is why the 2500 HD has the cab mounts 2" higher on the frame because of the 2" frame thickeness difference over the diff that subsequently raises the box...... or your door sticker says 8600 GVW instead of 9200 GVW, or you have a 246 t-case, or a 9.5" 14 bolt. List goes on.

No they don't, the frame is taller under the cab and box.

My 3500 sure looked like it had spacers on the body mounts.

Wrong, the frame is not taller under the cab. My 1500HD and 2500LD both have 8" tall channel under the cab just like the 2500HD. The only difference is the cab mount is welded on the frame 2" higher under the cab on the 2500HD.

The frame is taller under the bed ( like I already said) on the 2500HD as it stays a full 8" front to back whereas the 1500HD and 2500LD neck down to 6" above the rear diff. Hence why the bed sits 2" higher on the 2500HD than it does on a 1500HD/2500LD.

Thx for the info guys.

In 2004 some of these trucks mustve been mixed with the low profile bumper cover because my friend has a 2004 2500hd duramax with the same bumper maybe earlier 2004 models had this then later they used the thicker cover. Also i this the 1500hd's ce with 5.3 motors if im not mistaken.

Imo the cover i bought looks way better then the low pro one n i saw how i can lower the mounts on the frame of the frame ... not my first rodeo fabin things n i dont mind i was hust lookin to see if i had to buy a diff set of brackets as an easy way out.

I believe the gauge(thickness) of the frame rails also differs from model to model
