Default 135k mile 5.3L mods

My good buddy has a 99 ECSB 5.3L with around 135k miles. He wanting to do a small cam like a tr224 and a tb stall, with a few bolt ons. And maybe a little nitrous later on. Do you guys think with high mileage motor will hold up? I told him it will, but he has his doubts.

I would say the motor should hold up. I have 136k on my '02 and I'm fixing to start modding it. I know mine is pretty strong, the tranny's still smooth. Anyways, ***** it, if it blows, buy a 6.0 and start over again.

the motor should hold up, but I think that cam a a little too big for a TB stall... now his transmission may not hold for too long...

Motor should be fine. Eigther needs a smaller cam choice, or a bigger stall though. I think you know someone with a 3000 that would work perfect for the TR224.

3K stall & shift kit. We can have a contest to see who can break a 4L60E first.

White1... how long did it take you? Of course, if memory serves, you broke yours with the 6.0, right?

I hav a bud of mine just rolled over 200K miles on his modded truck. Runs fine and strong as ever. His is cammed and shooting 100 shot no problem. Now his trans has taken a dump on him before though.

You talkin about Zed?

The TR224 is way too big for a TB stall he needs to go with something like a 3K with a TR220 and that would give him a good power gain and still be streetable.

224 is too big for a tb stall especially in an ext cab. go for the 220 with around 26-2800 stall
